Licence agreement
Last updated 28 October 2026 · applies to version 1.x
This is the agreement for using the KDownloader application. The terms cover buying it; this page covers using it. It applies whether you paid or not.
1. What you get
A personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and run KDownloader on machines you own or control, and to use it for your own purposes, including work. The software is licensed, never sold. We keep all rights in it that this page does not give you.
- Free version: any number of machines, with the free limits.
- Trial: fourteen days with the Pro features, once per machine.
- Pro, yearly: three machines active at a time, for twelve months.
- Pro, lifetime: five machines active at a time, with no end date.
"Active at a time" is the honest limit: install it as often as you like, release a machine when you stop using it, and nobody counts reinstalls against you. One person's own machines, or one company seat per licence.
2. What you may not do
- Publish, sell, lend or share your licence key, or use one key across an organisation.
- Patch, crack, repackage or otherwise work around the licence check, the trial period or the machine limit — or distribute something that does.
- Reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble the software, except as far as Indonesian law says you may do so regardless of this page.
- Rent it out, run it as a paid service for other people, or ship it inside your own product.
- Remove or change the name, notices or marks in the application.
3. What you do with it is yours
KDownloader downloads what you point it at. It does not decide whether you are entitled to that file, and it does not break copy protection or digital rights management — not as a feature we left out, but as a line we do not intend to cross.
You are responsible for respecting copyright and the terms of the sites you use. Downloading a stream that a site's terms forbid is between you and that site. If a feature of this application is the reason you broke a rule somewhere, that is still your decision and not ours.
4. Updates
Updates are offered through the application and from the website; you choose whether to install them. A lifetime licence covers every version 1.x and 2.x release. Nothing is installed behind your back, and no update is ever pushed to your machine without you agreeing to it.
5. Other people's code
KDownloader ships with open-source components, each under its own licence, which continue to apply as their authors wrote them:
- MonoTorrent — the BitTorrent engine (MIT).
- CommunityToolkit.Mvvm — MVVM helpers (MIT).
- .NET runtime and WPF — Microsoft, under their own terms.
ffmpeg is not shipped with KDownloader. If you want video and audio joined into one file, you install ffmpeg yourself, under its own licence. That is why the application asks for it instead of fetching it quietly.
6. No warranty
The software is provided as it is, with no warranty of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. It talks to servers nobody here controls, and a feature that works today may be broken tomorrow by a change at the other end. Nothing in this paragraph removes rights that Indonesian consumer law gives you and does not allow us to exclude.
7. Limit of liability
Our liability for anything to do with this software is capped at what you paid for the licence. We are not liable for lost data, lost time, lost earnings, or for consequences of a file you chose to download.
8. When this licence ends
It ends if you break section 2, and a yearly licence ends when its twelve months run out. When it ends you stop using the Pro features; you may keep using the free version. The limits in sections 6 and 7 survive.
9. Law
Indonesian law applies.
